Hello Readers,
It's me again. Rather than writing about Food and the Philippines, I'll write about job hunting! The posts will not be as frequent as the posts in "Eat, eat, eat..." nonetheless, I'm always thankful for your support and readership ( don't worry I'll let you know in facebook about updates or if you're not in facebook, just give me your email ). To get things started, let me tell you why it sucks to be 1st runner up in the job hunting world versus in Miss Universe.
One of the things that the job hunting world has in common with Miss Universe ( and the pageant world in general ) is the importance of the interview ( it's not just long legs, prettiness, and white smiles, it's also brains: for scholarship purposes- according to Miss America ). It's important not to make any major-major mistake.
In my recent job interview, I can say whole-heartedly that I gave it my all, and I don't feel like I made a major mistake. In spite of my "engaging" personality and energy, I still fell short to the crowned candidate ( victor ), who had more experience.
For eternity, I'll always think about how close I was in attaining the coveted full time job ( well at least for 24 hours before I move on to the next job application ). Even 4th Runner Up, Miss Philippines, lucked out. After losing to Miss Mexico, she still has duties as Miss Philippines traveling all over Philippines as a psuedo-diplomat; she has a Pantene Shampoo commercial; she's dating Coco Martin, one of the rising stars in Filipino Cinema; and she'll probably be offered Movie and Music Album deals.
Then there's me, who's always grateful for the learning experience and the all-expense paid trip ... but wouldn't a stable full time job be better?
You already have a new blog?! I'm still working my way through "Eat..."
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely drop by to read what you say here, though. I'm also still looking for a job and may be on the verge of graduate studies, so I'll be able to commiserate.
Hey Vroom, Graduate studies is not such a bad idea. Conversations and chitchatting with you is always great! What's new?
